How we can help
Private GP Lincs can prescribe medications that you require for short term and long term conditions.
Following consultation with our experienced doctors we can provide you with a treatment for medications that we agree you need.
We do not charge for generating treatments from Private GP Lincs, but you will have to pay the cost of the treatments when you collect these from a pharmacy. The pharmacy may also charge an administrative fee for dispensing the medications. Before we prescribe medications we can give an indication of the usual cost of the treatments, though the pharmacy may charge more or less than this.
Private GP Lincs will send your treatment to a pharmacy of your choosing using an electronic prescribing service SignatureRx. SignatureRx will send you a text message or email with a unique treatment ID which you can show to the pharmacy, and they will dispense the medication for you.
Not all pharmacies are linked to SignatureRx, but most chains such as Lloyds, Boots, and Tescos do accept SignatureRx treatments, and some independent pharmacies too. You can see which pharmacies accept private treatments on the SignatureRx website.
What we cannot prescribe.
Private GP Lincs cannot prescribe controlled treatments such as morphine, tramadol, diazepam, and other strong pain killers.
We also cannot prescribe medications which require specialist monitoring such as methotrexate, methylphenidate, azathioprine, and ciclosporin. A full list of “shared care treatments” which we cannot prescribe can be found at the Lincolnshire Formulary website.
If during a consultation we identify that you may require a specialist or controlled treatment we can refer you to a specialist who may be able to provide you with advice about these medications. We can also write to you and your GP about any treatment recommendations we identify during the consultation.
